EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - Family members say it's a miracle. A pickup slams nearly head on into a tractor trailer rig, and the driver lives to tell the tale.

The wreck happened on Highway 80 at Old River Road in Eden in Southern Effingham County.

Antwan Wright, 22, was the driver of the pickup truck. His family said he is at Memorial University Medical Center for observation, but that he only has bumps and bruises.

"I just saw the pictures and all I could do is rejoice," Wright's mother, Nicole Wright said.

She says he is happy to be alive. "He has some bruises and a couple of cuts but other than that he is fine," Wright said.

Charlene Howell was driving through the intersection of Old River Road and Highway 80 when she saw the pickup. She says she didn't even know it was a truck until someone yelled to her that a man was inside.

"I was scared. I didn't know what I was going to see. I was scared to death what I was going to walk up on," Howell said.

Howell says when she got to the truck, Wright was pinned but was able to talk and seemed okay.

"By the grace of God miracles happen every day and today I got to experience one," Howell said.

Nicole Wright also says it's a miracle.

"It was God. It was definitely God who delivered him out of that accident," she said.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol are investigating.
