Key ceremony to mark wounded soldier's new home

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A specially built home for a wounded solder will be presented to him Feb. 12.

The Build Brigade will hand over the keys to the newly built home to Staff Sgt. Jason Letterman who lost post his legs in an IED blast in May 2008 and suffers from traumatic brain injury.

Homes for Our Troops, Hardin Construction and the Build Brigade helped make the home project a reality. The specially designed home gives Letterman full mobility within the house and outside the house, such as ramps, wider doorways, roll in shower and roll under counter tops in kitchens and bath, according to a news release.

The key ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. Feb. 12 .  U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Phillips will also be attending the ceremony.  There will also be music, cake, food, ribbon cutting and tours of the home.

All of the items have been donated by businesses in Liberty and Chatham counties.
