ATHENS, GA (WTOC) - Family and friends said their goodbyes Saturday to University of Georgia mascot Uga VIII.
Georgia's white english bulldog mascot, was buried at Sanford Stadium beside his predecessors in a private ceremony.
Uga VIII had been introduced to the Bulldog Nation Saturday, Oct. 16, during pre-game ceremonies of the Georgia-Vanderbilt game in Sanford Stadium.
Uga VIII was only 17 months old and served as the mascot for only half of a season before his death from lymphoma on Friday.
Uga VIII half brother Russ will step in as the school's mascot.
