SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Feb. 7 is the first day of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Georgia.
The week celebrates family preparedness and the importance of a NOAA Weather Radio. Gov. Deal signed a proclamation last week announcing his support of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Ready Georgia, is a free, interactive online tool that takes the guesswork out of getting prepared.
The site allows people to enter vital information in a Ready Profile and get a customized family communications plan and emergency supply checklist in less than an hour.
There's also a ReadyKids section for children to get prepared.
Ready Georgia is offering Georgia residents the chance to win a NOAA Weather Radio and Ready kit, a $100 value.
Starting Feb. 7, visit Ready Georgia's Facebook page and click on the "Contests" tab. Then, enter the contest by simply submitting a severe weather photo and a step you have taken to prepare.
