Massive street demonstrations, tanks, even galloping camels, mark the sudden rebellion in Egypt against the lengthy rule of  President Mubarak.  Despite strong-arm leaders, the U.S. has preferred to support those stable, friendly allies in the region, rather than hostile, unpredictable ones.  Iran comes to mind.  When naïve Mr. Carter worked to remove our loyal ally, the Shah, the leadership void was filled by the anti-American, Islamic theocracy, we're still dealing with.  If not taken over by its military, Egypt's outcome could be Iran-2, with pro-U.S. stability, likely giving way to factions, dominated by that nation's Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamic political movement, whose Palestinian off-spring  is Hamas, and one that's anti-America, clearly, anti-Israel, intent on destroying that nation, and ours, their ultimate global-jihadist-goal being to impose Shiria law on the world.

Suez canal control, OPEC, and regional Islamic pressure, makes our chief  concern the continuing flow of foreign oil, regrettably, still so critical to our nation's economic growth and security.  For purely political reasons, the Administration won't allow real job-growth, now, through more private-sector drilling of our on-and-off-shore oil reserves, or even permit its resumption in the Gulf, despite a recent contempt-of-court ruling by a Federal judge! Why does this Administration continue to allow eco-leftists to force dependence on foreign oil, risking our economy and security?   Choosing shadow-politics, with stealth homage to world socialism, why does our Executive Branch refuse to put the needs of America first? It's time for Congress to grew a backbone, reverse that priority, and aggressively-push toward oil, gas, coal, and nuclear-based U.S. energy-independence.  Not well into the future,  now !
