SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Christian Prepatory School kindergarteners through fifth graders spent Monday morning paking up what they gathered for the Matthew Freeman Project: Pens and Paper for Peace. Some students didn't know Freeman, but understood his message.
"They don't have this in other countries so we can supply them with this," said fifth grader Jack Deal.
"It's just really essential for our children to learn - people are sacrificing their lives for us over here and a lot of times, kids that are this age, it's sort of a foreign concept," said Student Outreach Advisor Amy Perry.
Matthew Freeman's mother was there to collect more than a dozen boxes worth of pens, paper, notebooks, pencil sharpners, scissors and more. She will mail it all to Afghanistan in a few weeks.
