SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A man is in custody in connection with a stabbing that sent a woman to the hospital early Monday morning.
Police were dispatched at about 1:32 a.m. Monday to west Gwinnett and Crosby streets on report of a cutting.
Police found Tameka Smith, 35, lying face down in the street. She had blood stains on her clothing and had been stabbed, but was conscious and able to talk, according to police. Smith was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.
Officers were told by others at the scene that they had been at a Superbowl party and had heard a commotion outside. They told police that it sounded like people were fighting and they heard yelling but were not in a position where they could see anything, according to police.
Violent Crimes Detectives interviewed Smith. Their investigation led them to issue a warrant for 46-year-old Horace Hall. He also was at the party, according to police. An argument turned physical and led to the stabbing.
By 8 p.m. Monday, Hall was in custody. He was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Chatham County Detention Center.
