City honors volunteer groups

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - On Tuesday night, Savannah's City Council honored more than 30 different volunteer groups with their third annual Appreciation Reception.

Food and fun for groups like The Cultural Arts Commission, Park and Tree Commission, and so many more. They do a lot more than they might get credit for.

"It is impossible for the nine of us to know all that we need to know about everything that we need to know. So these boards and commissions augment what we do, by dealing with certain things," said Mayor Otis Johnson.

Along with an evening they'll never forget, each volunteer also received a wooden cutout of downtown Savannah.
