Early morning fire damages Gadsden Elem. classroom

SAVANNAH - Firefighters put out early morning fire at a West Savannah school. The blaze started just before 5 a.m. Wednesday at a portable classroom at Gadsden Elementary on May Street.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they encountered heavy smoke and flames and immediately got water on the fire and entered the portable.

WTOC has a crew on scene and learned a member of the school board will be arriving this morning. School is expected to run as normal.
