Fort Stewart conducts emergency training

FORT STEWART, GA (WTOC) - At 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Fort Stewart's Soldier Service Center is conducting an active shooter exercise. The limited notice was given to ensure the most realistic scenario possible. The public will hear the excercise traffic over police scanners and radio.

The exercise is a rehearsal for how the Directorate of Emergency Services and other associated agencies will respond to a situation such as an armed assailant.

Fort Stewart officials say there have been no increase in threat levels and that the training is to help protect soldiers, civilians and families in the event of an emergency.
