CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) – The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is hosting a Super Saturday Training for volunteers at the detention center.
Nearly 100 members of the community volunteer their time at the Chatham County Sheriff's Office detention center, and they're required to complete 16 hours of training, according to the sheriff's office.
The session runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at the sheriff's office at 1050 Carl Griffin Dr. There's an appreciation luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Jail Administrator Col. McArthur Holmes and Programs Manager Ms. Dorsey will be running the training session. Volunteers will be trained on jail security, cultural diversity and procedures related to working inside the jail.
CCSO volunteers assist by ministering in religious studies, worship services, distributing literature, teaching, counseling in substance abuse treatment, and attending programmatic events for the inmates, according to the sheriff's office.
