SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - If you have been waiting to get an iPhone on Verizon's network, wait no more.
The first Verizon iPhones to be sold in Savannah went on sale Thursday morning at 7 a.m. There was a significant early morning crowd, trying to get their hands on the device.
Data plans for the Verizon phone will differ somewhat from those available through AT&T, but most analysts say they're mostly comparable.
Customers say they are excited a second carrier has broken AT&T's monopoly on the iPhone.
"I have been waiting for it since the first I phone came out," said James Wilson. "Been here since last night. Yes, I was expecting a bigger crowd, but it isn't. I am still going to walk out with an iPhone 4, so it doesn't matter."
"I wanted the iPhone 4,"said David Hort. "I have been with Verizon for a number of years. I was with AT&T and didn't like the customer service, gave up the iPhone to go to Verizon."
Verizon could sell two million iPhones this quarter and nine million this year.
If you are a current iPhone owner, just know you can't simply switch to verizon. You will need to buy the new phone, and pay fees to break your current contract.
