Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport is flying high

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A study released earlier Friday says flights taking off and landing at the Savannah-Hilton head International Airport rose sharply in 2010.

In all, traffic into and out of the airport rose two percent from 2009. That includes a 10 percent increase in December alone. In just one year, the airport served over 1.6 million passengers.

Officials credit some of these numbers to the new Allegiant Air takeoffs delivering non-stop takeoffs to Fort Lauderdale.
