Still plenty of work to clean up a plant destroyed by flames

HARTSVILLE, SC (WTOC)- Wednesday, day two of the clean up efforts at the Agrium Fertilizer Plant, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley made a trip to see the devastation first hand.

It was her first disaster as governor.

She helped announce that they applied for $25,000 in federal money to help cover the clean up costs.

"You are seeing first responders work hours upon hours to get the job done. You're seeing businesses and communities come together to help them. I just shook hands with firefighters in Horry County who are trying to give the first responders on the ground a break," said Governor Haley.

Federal and State Officials continue monitoring the air and nearby lake to make sure there aren't any contaminants. So far, they haven't found any.
