Third ID Welcomes New Commander

Fort Stewart welcomed a new leader for the Third Infantry today. Colonel Promotable Robert Caslen takes over as assistant division commander for maneuver. He comes from Fort Drum as the former chief of staff and arrives as soldiers are returning from Iraq. He says his mission is to get them readjusted and ready for the next challenge.

"Take time with their families, and then we're going to bring them back here," he said. "The first thing we got to do is tackle our maintenance, get that back up, because a lot of our fleet stayed back here. Our fleet didn't deploy, we got to work on our fleet."

Castlen's previous assignments include being on the faculty at West Point.
