SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Dophin Project is looking for research volunteers. They are hosting a workshop on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until noon at Memorial University Medical Center. They are need of skippers with boats, photographers with a minimum of a 300mm lense on their camera, team leaders and assistants to record data.
The Dophin Project is an all-volunteer, non-profit research and education organization dedicated to the protection of wild estuarine Bottlenose dolphins and their environment. The Dolphin Project has been studying the dolphins in the area for over 22 years. They are permitted by the U.S. government to conduct photo-ID research surveys off of the coast of Georgia and lower South Carolina.
Volunteers must be 18 years old, a member of the Dolphin Project and have training to participate in the research surveys. They are also offering land-based volunteer opportunities for all ages.
