SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - St. Patrick's Day is one month away. Savannah will be a packed city come mid-March.
The big question is will hotel rooms still be available?
If you want to stay in downtown Savannah, you better hurry up. Rooms are going fast. Visit Savannah says most hotels in the historic district expect to be sold out by St. Patrick's Day.
One hotel is already booked solid.
It may be slow in mid-February, but the River Street Inn has St. Patrick's Day on its mind.
"It's always on our minds. It's going to be a great time," River Street Inn Manager Regina Graham told WTOC.
Graham says there is no room at the inn for next month's huge event. "Being on River Street, it is location location location and we are sold out. So it's a pretty nice place to be right now," she said. "On the river it will be an issue finding rooms. Away from the river it will be easier."
"Start making plans. Who is coming in? Who are your friends? Get those reservations made soon," Joe Marinelli with Visit Savannah told WTOC.
Marinelli says most hotels are expecting a sell out by March.
"Anything near city market will do very very well. At the moment those hotels are not full but they are projecting to be full," he said. "A lot of people will turn this into a three or four or five day weekend and we all win."
"We wait for this when it comes," Graham said.
While there are 120 hotels in the Savannah area, with 15,000 rooms, from downtown to southside to airport and Tybee Island, River Street Inn's 86 rooms are gone.
"It's easy to fill here being on River Street," Graham said. "I think the whole entire historic district will benefit beautifully from that weekend. If the weather stays like this, it's a shoo in."
City Market's two hotels, the Avia and the Inn at Ellis Square are not sold out yet, but Visit Savannah expects them to be very soon.
