SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Savannah dry cleaning business is trying to clear out smoke after a neighboring business caught on fire over the weekend.

The fire sparked around 3 a.m. Sunday at the Laundromat on Waters Avenue, near Montgomery Cross Road. Dennis Campbell owns Campbell's Cleaners next door and says he is thankful the fire didn't spread to nearby business's, but the smoke did make its way in. On Monday, he had several fans running to help ventilate his business.

"It was more like an old smokey bar room in the back. I am having to reclean clothes as a precaution," said Campbell. "I would rather reclean them as a precaution."

The cause of the fire is still not known.

Campbell says he the Laundromat has been there for many years, and he hopes they will reopen soon.

"You work all your life," said Campbell. "You try to make it work, especially in these economic times, it's hard anyway something like this can leave you pennyless, through no fault of your own."
