Fifth annual Cooks N' Books names top winner

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - On Saturday, the fifth annual Cooks N' Books was hosted by the Friends of Literacy for the Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry.

Top chefs cooked off in two preliminary rounds as guests sampled the finest fare from Lowcountry restaurants and hung out with top Lowcountry authors.

Chef Stephen Stewart of Tidepointe took on Keith Josefak of Old Port Pub in the championship round.

The winner was Keith Josefak chosen by a distinguished panel of judges.

The People's Choice Award for restaurants went to CQ's and Chef Eric Sayers at Harbor Town.

    With Chief Mark Revenew now keeping an eye on the streets of Savannah, the City of Pooler is left without a chief. And as the City works to fill that role, they have set a temporary replacement. Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb tells WTOC that Pooler's Deputy Major Jim Ward will serve as the Interim Police Chief.

    The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport passed its 2016 annual numbers by 12 percent in 2017 breaking another airport record. Last year they had over 2.4 million passengers served in Savannah.  Over the past ten years the airport's annual passenger number has fluctuated quite a bit. In 2007 the airport saw just over 2 million passengers.
