Girl attacked by pitbull released from hospital

PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) - A Lowcountry toddler attacked by a pitbull last week is now at home. Three-year-old Daniella Rimirez went home from the hospital on Monday morning. She was attacked by a pitbull last Thursday morning near her home on Wayside Lane.

She suffered numerous bites on her head, ear and leg. Her father says Daniella is doing well and is glad to be back home.

"She likes to play with all of the presents everyone has given her," said he father Oscar Rimirez. "So thank you very much everybody, the doctors, everyone who helped my family.  Thank you very much."

Oscar Rimirez says the pitbull that attacked Daniella was tested for rabies and the test came back negative. Before the incident, the Rimirez's called authorities several times on the dog for ir running loose.
