SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - History came to life at St. Andrews School on Wednesday. Every year, Dr. Pamela Connor's third grade class turns a new page in the history book by recreating the past to learn about colonial times.
Students pick a character, famous or not, do research and then write a script and act out a show for parents.
It's a teaching method Dr. Connor says has been working for years.
"They learn the history and by bringing it to life it hits home with them," explained Dr. Connor. "I've been doing this for about five years now, so students who are now in the seventh, eighth grade come back all the time and say I remember when I did that, so history comes to life."
Dr. Connor says her third graders do all the work at school. They make their own props and have to practice their lines for parents who come to watch the performance.
