SYLVANIA, GA (WTOC) - Historians will gather Saturday to mark the 232nd anniversary of the Battle of Brier Creek in Screven County. The battle was one of the most pivotal in Georgia during the Revolutionary War. One hundred and fifty patriots died and were buried there.
Colors will be presented and retired by members of the National and State Society of Sons of American Revolution. The 11 a.m. program will include members in period uniforms and the firing of a replica cannon.
The 232nd Anniversary of Revolutionary War Battle of Brier Creek will be celebrated Saturday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at the historic marker at Brannen's Bridge, approximately five miles east of Sylvania.
