HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) – A house boat destroyed and sunk by a fire has displaced one person.
The American Red Cross was called to Palmetto Bay Marina, where the man lived full time, late Wednesday evening.
The Red Cross provided the victim lodging, money to help replace food and clothing lost in the fire. He also received a comfort kit, filled with personal emergency supplies such as toiletries.
Steps are being taken to help get prescription glasses and medication that was lost in the blaze, according to the Red Cross. It plans to follow up to assure that the long-term needs of the fire victim have been met.
