Honoring a local saint

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Meet Dr. Jim Dandy, long time chairman of The Savannah Association for the Blind.

Through the years he has helped the organization that provides services to the blind and visually impaired, by volunteering, fundraising and often times donating his own money to keep the doors open.

Thursday night, a crowd surprised Dr. Dandy by naming a board room at the The Savannah Association for the Blind after him.

"I had no idea, especially nothing of this magnitude. This is quite an honor, an honor like I have never even dreamed of receiving. I'm just overwhelmed and deeply humbled by this," said Dr. Dandy.

Along with the board room named in his honor, the good doctor also received letters of proclamations from the Georgia State House of Representatives and even Congress.
