Savannah, GA (WTOC) – The First Tee of Savannah is known for using golf to teach life lessons that transcend beyond the links.
The program continued in its theme, by honoring golf pioneer, Charlie Sifford, in its first Black History celebration. Sifford was the first African-American to play golf full-time on the PGA tour.
In a room filled with youth and adults alike, he spoke of the perseverance it took to excel in his time. Said Sifford after the celebration, "When I first started there wasn't anybody but me, to see all these kids(now) is wonderful."
