School celebrates Read Across America Day

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Tuesday is Read Across America Day and Dr. Suess's birthday.

Gould Elementary School will be celebrating the events starting at noon. As part of the festivities, community members have been invited to read to students.

The school's principal will read a book to students during morning announcements.

Teachers and students will write a pledge to read on a poster board or large sheet of paper for all students to sign, or make a Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss sign depicting one of his books that will hang outside the classroom door, according to the school.

Students will get a treat to celebrate Dr. Suess's birthday and a free book.

Each child will be given a cupcake or cookie to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
