SCMPD Marine Patrol to offer boater safety class

SAVANNAH,GA ( WTOC) - The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department is offering the state certified Boating Safety Course.

Classes take place the third Saturday of every month. It's a classroom course, not on the water. Participants who complete the course get a boating safety card and could receive a discount on insurance. It is free and open to the public.

The minimum age for enrollment is 12. The eight-hour class will include the latest Georgia boating laws and U.S. Coast Guard policy. Attendees get a workbook.

National Association Of State Boating Law Administrators certified boating safety course.

All graduates will receive a wallet card, a certificate and a workbook. We recommend that you laminate the wallet card.

The training dates are: April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19.
