SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The city of Savannah will host a town hall meeting focused on the proposed LNG trucking route on Monday.
The meeting will take place from rom 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Civic Center Ballroom. City staff will present information on the proposed route. The public will be allowed to make comments.
Officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Transportation are expected to attend.
Southern LNG, which operates the Elba Island liquefied natural gas facility off the Islands Expressway east of Savannah, applied for permission to reactivate a loading dock terminal for trucking operation at the facility, according to the city.
The company receives LNG with tanker ships and pipes regasified natural gas from Elba to points inland.
As part of the plan, the company outlined plans to send up to 58 trucks per day on a route that took the trucks west on the Islands Expressway, south on the Truman Parkway, and west on DeRenne Avenue to Interstate 16.
