Women, child hit by car identified

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Two Savannah women were charged with crossing outside of a crosswalk after they and a 6-year-old girl were hit by an SUV on Wednesday afternoon.

Bertha King, 58, Ashley Miller, 23, and Jakayla Miller weren't seriously injured after they walked into the path of a car Wednesday on Martin Luther Jr. Boulevard .

They were hit about 1 p.m. Wednesday by an SUV driven by 93-year-old Robert Plummer, according to police.

Sgt. Anthony Gallo of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Major Accidents Investigation Team said they exited a bus and were crossing MLK Boulevard at least 20 feet from the crosswalk at Gaston Street, according to SCMPD. The SUV was traveling north and had a green light.

The women and child were treated at Memorial University Medical Center.
