Walterboro man won't face charges for killing home intruder

WALTERBORO, SC (WTOC) – No charges will be filed against a homeowner who killed an intruder during a home invasion last month.

At 8 p.m. on Feb. 17, convicted felon Anthony Drayton forced his way into a home on Bethea Street in Walterboro, according to the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office. Saigron Sylvester Bowman had Drayton with a chokehold until police arrived, according to the office.

Drayton was released from prison in February 2009 after serving 17 years of a 27-year sentence for manslaughter. He had a prior burglary conviction. While in prison, he had 37 disciplinary offenses.
