HHI to discuss safety at Forest Beach

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) – The town of Hilton Head Island's public safety committee is meeting Monday.

A key item on the agenda is crime in the south and north Forest Beach neighborhoods.

"South and north Forest Beach [are] very important areas in our community. [We] have had over the years a fairly constant level of crime activity. It hasn't gone up to a high level of concern but a level that we would like to address," said William Harkins, of the town of Hilton Head Island.

They discussed the importance of public education - for reminding folks about the value of serial numbers, lighting and removing shrubs and other vegetation that culprits can hide behind.
