Illinois students help Habitat for Humanity

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Habitat for Humanity and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed students from Wheaton College. The students are from Illinois and are using their spring break to spruce up a house in the Liberty City neighborhood. A little bit of paint and some yard work and the house will be ready for its new occupants later this spring.

"A lot of us hadn't worked with Habitat before so I don't think many of expected the walls, doors, siding to already be on the house," said junior Katelyn Kishkunas. "But we were definitley focused on working on the interior of it so that was our job for the first day and getting used to the interior and getting a vision with Bruce our leader."

The students said after the 17 hour car ride they were ready to work. The house is not the only place they are helping. They will also be tutoring at the Savannah Baptist Center.
