SFES: Changing detector batteries with time change

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Fire and Emergency Services is encouraging all citizens to change the batteries in all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in conjuction with changing the time on their clocks.

March 13 marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time and clocks will move ahead one hour and SFES says this is great time to think about fire safety. They also ecourage the same practive when the time changes in the fall.

March 13th marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time and that means moving your clocks ahead one hour (spring forward) before retiring for the evening Saturday. It is also a great time to think about fire safety.

Savannah residents can obtain free smoke detectors and firefighters will install them free of charge. Call 912.652.6527 to make arrangements.
