Despite the understandable difficulty of thinking beyond the destruction and incredible loss of life in Japan, here in warm, beautiful Savannah, as we welcome thousands of festival-goers and all-things-Irish, for a change, we also welcome some good news from the continuing morass of national politics.  First, for all of us with gas-pump angst, a new report from the Congressional Research Service, again confirms that the U.S. is loaded with oil, natural gas and coal reserves; in fact, America has the largest combined reserves in the world!  Our currently-known oil and natural gas deposits, alone, are projected to power the nation for at least 90-years, far-more than enough time to develop commercially-viable, widely-accepted alternatives.  That is if we could now get enviro-elite heads plucked from their rumps, and  mega-new-job-producing drills into our land and sea. At the very least, this fresh Fed estimate should heap more pressure on the self-loving D.C. crowd to finally do what's really best for the nation, which is why we elected them!

And more good news for those who understand that the private sector fuels America's economic growth, not government bloat and forceful-redistribution of the earnings of others.  An important House Committee just passed a bi-partisan bill that would block the EPA's back-door, power-grab-mission to cripple American industry with oppressive CO2 regulations.  Miles to go on that, but the fresh air of common-sense is at long-last beginning to flow.  Oh and this nugget. Germany's Federal Environmental Agency reports that if one of those imposed, new, frozen-custard-cone light bulbs breaks, the toxic-vapor emitted is 20-times higher than indoor safety guidelines.  That fact oughta light up more than your room!  Yes, it's indeed gonna be a great week for the Irish, but not so much for the greens.
