SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The call went out and phones came in.

EMC Engineering Services set up their cell phones for soldiers stand just off the parade route Thursday. They're collecting old cell phones to be recycled, refurbished and sent to active military serving overseas. There was a reward - the use of clean, indoor restrooms for anyone who dropped off a phone or a cash donation.

"It is great. We've had a lot of participation from the crowd, mostly cash donations, but today we've got probably 15-16 phones and we'll be sending those over to the troops," said Chuck Perry, CEO of EMC Engineering Services.

The phones that can't be refurbished are sold and those proceeds buy phones cards for deployed military.
