SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Quick work by Savannah firefighters kept an apartment fire from spreading early Monday morning.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. Monday at the Cypress Landings Apartment Complex on Waters Avenue near Corinth Avenue.
Fire officials say someone left a pot on the stove, catching the rest of the kitchen on fire.
The building sustained only minor fire damage, but the apartment above had significant smoke damage. the apartment below also sustained water damage.
Seven people had to find another place to stay.
This apartment complex is used as South University housing, and the university assisted the victims for the night.
