SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Middle and high school students will have a chance to learn more about aviation next week as part of Aviation Awareness Days 2011.
The Savannah State University Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps and the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, are teaming up with Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools to host the event, which takes place at 9:15 a.m., March 29 and 30.
An estimated 1,500 students will get an up-close look at the military and civilian aircraft on display at the 165th Airlift Wing at Travis Field Airport, which is near the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, according to SSU.
Students will learn more about civilian and military aviation career opportunities.
Others participating in the event include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., Middle Georgia College, Coastal Empire Flight Training and the Georgia Civil Air Patrol.
