SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A familiar face on Savannah's city council is hoping to take on a much bigger tole. After more than 11 years on council and serving as mayor pro-tem, Edna Jackson says she wants to be mayor.
In Forsyth Park on Tuesday, Jackson told supporters she has a good shot at winning.
"I have been a person that has been somewhat of a consensus builder, and one that has tried to work with the entire community. I am a Savannahian, so, when you know your community, you know what to expect. And in all of my 11 years on city council, I've always worked for all of the people, which is very important here in this community," she said.
Jackson says she has three top priorities:
- Job Creation
- Reducing Crime
- Protecting the Environment
The election is November 8, 2011.
