CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) – A cause has yet to be determined in a fire that torched 50 acres Tuesday in west Chatham County.
The fire on Osteen Road was reported by a passerby at about 3 p.m. Tuesday and was contained at about 5 p.m., according to the Chatham Emergency Management Agency.
Eleven agencies, including Bloomingdale Fire, Garden City Fire, Pooler Fire, Port Wentworth Fire, Effingham County Fire and Georgia Forestry Division, and more than 60 personnel were at the scene.
The Mosquito Control division used an airplane and helicopter to drop water on the flames, according to CEMA.
No homes were damaged. Several storage sheds with liquid propane tanks were destroyed.
