HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) – Water and sewer service charges are going up in Hilton Head Island.
The Hilton Head Public Service District Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to adjust water and sewer service base charges for the first time in 12 years.
The water service base charge will go up $1 a month and the sewer service base charge will increase $2 a month starting May 1, according to the commission.
The new water service base charge will be $11 a month for residential customers and $16 a month for commercial customers. The new sewer service base charge will be $14 a month for all customers.
The adjustments approved Tuesday will also include a new residential irrigation meter volume charge of $1.71 per 1,000 gallons up to 20,000 gallons per month, according to the commission. The commercial sewer service volume charge also was adjusted to $2 per 1,000 gallons of water consumption.
Hilton Head PSD serves more than 18,000 customers.
