SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The city of Savannah offered said it has relocated 57 laid-off workers.
Twenty-seven of the 57 staff reductions were relocated to other jobs within the city; 14 were laid off; either voluntarily or because the city says they were not qualified for available positions. The rest took early retirement which totals 159 overall.
"We will continue to work with them. If they see a job they want to apply for. They have re-employment rights for three years," said Beth Robinson of the city of Savannah human resources dept.
Some employees have chosen to file complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Robinson said they are employees also and are still able to get help with employment.
