SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Malone's on the River has lost its alcohol license following a St. Patrick's celebration crackdown on underage drinking.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said they handed out citations to 16 bar employees during last week's holiday celebration.
Officers checked 56 downtown bars and found 12 where workers were breaking the law. Four citations were handed out for allowing those underage inside a bar. The rest were for serving alcohol to drinkers under 21. While the citations were issued to individual employees, the businesses involved will be evaluated to see if additional disciplinary action is necessary.
So far, Malone's is the only bar to be punished. It has had prior offenses, according to police.
