Storm winds cause fire flare ups

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Weekend storms provided only scattered rain to help crews working around the clock to battle wildfires.

The Georgia Forestry Commission says winds that accompanied the storms caused some flare ups. The blaze in Long County has burned just over 6 square miles and three homes. A fire in Clinch County had burned about 21 square miles, while the blaze in Bacon and Ware counties had consumed around 25 square miles.

Gov. Nathan Deal has already declared a state of emergency due to the fires.
