Black Maria film festival to return to Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah College of Art and Design is hosting the Black Maria Film and Video Festival, an award-winning festival committed to the exhibition of cutting-edge independent films.

SCAD has hosted the festival each year since 1999.

The festival takes place at 8 p.m. April 14 at Trustees Theater, which is located at 216 E. Broughton St. Admission is $5 and free with a valid SCAD ID.

Named in spring 2010 as one of MovieMaker Magazine's "25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee" the Black Maria Film and Video Festival is known for its annual roster of bold contemporary works by award-winning independent film- and video-makers that give insight to the human condition, political, social and environmental issues, and aesthetic investigations, according to a SCAD news release.
