SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It was Aviation Awareness Day and the 165th Airlift Wing celebrated with over 1,000 students from Savannah-Chatham County Public schools.
The students got the opportunity to get an upclose look at the military and civilian aircraft at Travis Field Airport. They learned all about the different career opportunities in the field of aviation and military.
It is a pretty good opportunity for me to come to a nice place to see some airplanes, learn about the military and such. My father was in the Air Force for four years back in the 80's," said Kenny Zelinka.
"I love the controls the electronics aspect of it, the complex machinery that is involved in making these fly," Thomas Fisher told WTOC.
The U.S. Navy, Army and Coast Guard also recognize Aviation Awareness Day.
