Expo raising awareness about teen driving safety

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Operation Drive Smart stopped at Islands High School on Wilmington Island Tuesday. The expo brings law enforcement and safety crew officials together to educate young drivers on the importance of driving safely. Activities and demonstrations taught students about the importance of wearing seatbelts and the dangers of drinking and driving.

Chatham County had several fatalities last year that involved teenagers so this is a good start to try and nip it in the bud," said Crime Prevention Officer Harold Moore.

A grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety allowed the Duluth Police Department to create the expo and travel throughout Georgia.
