SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - More 3rd ID soldiers are wrapping up their current duties in Iraq.
The 3rd Sustainment Brigade, known as the Heart of the Marne division, literally feeds, fuels and otherwise furnishes everything the 3rd ID needs. During this tour, they swapped out or moved more equipment than any unit since world war two.
Col. Shawn M. Morrissey, commander of the 3rd Sustainment Brigade, said they have units within their formation that do anything from maintaining tanks and bradleys to buying, shipping and receiving parts to maintain them.
They're also responsible for all the mail that comes into Iraq and the distribution of it.
The 3rd Sustainment Brigade is headed home. Morrissey said they will be home around the middle of April.
