MCAS Beaufort Won't Get Super Hornets

There's a possible setback for Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort involving the planes and where they train. Already, the air station is home to F/A-18 jets, but there are more in the works, the new "Super Hornets." Beaufort was in the running to be their home, even though some residents were against the expansion, claiming the jets are too noisy.

Now sources say the Navy's picked two new homes for the $45 million jets, basing some at Oceana Air Station in Virginia and others at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, in North Carolina. They'll build a practice landing field in Washington County, North Carolina.

Residents in the areas had the same complaint about noise issues. Sources expect the Navy to make it official today.
