Elementary Students Presented Flag

Some Richmond Hill elementary school students spent their morning remembering September 11 and honoring those who fought in Operation Iraqi freedom. Several members of the Third Infantry Division and members of the Air Force presented George Washington Carver Elementary School with the American flag they carried in Iraq. They also planted two trees to honor the parents who fought in the war. A large majority of Carver Elementary students are part of military families and know firsthand what it's like to be without them for months at a time.

"Our parents, this program today was honoring our parents who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and we wanted to give a little bit back," said principal Joye Johnson.

The two trees the soldiers planted today were placed next to the tree they planted two years ago to remember those who died in the attack on America.
