Our Defense Orientation Conference Association border briefings in Tucson began with the documentary, "Border Wars," showing the daily work of our Port of Entry officers and Border Patrol agents, focusing on a huge drug intercept at an entry port and the on-going task of chasing, and hopefully apprehending, illegals along that expansive southern border. One cannot help but admire the commitment and skill of our Customs and Border Protection personnel who, though aided by increased detection assets, still put their lives on the line daily, combating the 24/7 efforts of dangerous drug and human smugglers, al-Qaeda suspects, and ordinary persons, all trying to do whatever it takes to penetrate our southern border. If successful, regardless of motive, at the very least, all are violating immigration law.
Worse, if those who cross, can blend-into a near-by community, in terms of apprehension, it's usually game-over. And even more of a concern, cumulative for America's 327 Ports of Entry, an average of one person a day is reportedly turned-back due to terrorism-suspicion. The haunting question, then, is how many have already gotten through, and continue to, bringing in WMD-materials, and populating domestic terror cells. By the way, none of the radical 9-11scum snuck in. They all came, documented, through our Ports of Entry, illegally over-stayed, took advantage of our then-criminal, lack of cross-agency intelligence-sharing, caused by political "walls of separation," and took advantage, as well, of our rampant, clueless-fog of political correctness, creating a disaster forever seared in our history, enabled by our own bone-headed PC, and D.C.'s bone-headed policies, creating a "perfect storm" of collective naiveté and neglect, at the expense of our nation. More on our continuing border challenges later.
